Succotash

Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, was launched 12 years ago (April, 2011) with the idea of promoting comedy soundcasts in what was then a marketplace still trying to find its way. By featuring short clips of shows being produced by funny folks both known and unknown, we like to feel that we maybe had a little tiny, eeny weeny, itsy bitsy bit to do with helping to ignite the torch of soundcasts across the globe! (But then we've always had a rather high opinion of ourselves...)

Original show host and executive producer Marc Hershon, along with co-host Tyson Saner, booth announcer Bill Heywatt, engineer/producer Joe Paulino, musical director Scott Carvey, and booth assistant Kenny Durgis have been keeping the flame alive o'er these many years.

Nov 8, 2022

Saluton, estas mi Tyson Saner. Welcome to Succotash, The Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, Epi #329. I will be you host for the duration of the program. It's the beginning of November, 2022 and that means that, if this show drops on Tuesday like normal, it's Voting Day! You can be forgiven for listening to this on Wednesday or later… Or you could probably listen to this in line to vote if you haven't already mailed in your ballot or simply deposited it in a dropbox if you've got one handy. Fingers crossed for a Blue Wave, eh? Maybe it's not your thing…thank you for listening anyway.

This show is about featuring soundcast clips and doing interviews with folks related to soundcasts, usually of a comedic nature. For instance, last week in Episode #328, show creator and executive producer Marc Hershon brought you a well-packed candy bag of clips from the soundcasts Endless Honeymoon, Hamish & Andy, DorkNation, and Callan’s Kicks…PLUS a clip from frequent guest of Succotash Dana Carvey's new scripted comedy soundcast The Weird Place AND a poignant parody song from Succotash producer Joe Paulino called "Young Man", which is a take on Neil Young's "Old Man" and is credited to "Neil Olde".

So, there's a LOT going on in that episode, and I urge you to check it out at your earliest convenience. You can still find it wherever you find soundcasts to listen to as well as in the show archive over at www.succotashshow.com.

This week, in THIS show, I've got clips for you from the soundcasts known as My Pleasure, Gender Reveal, and Pen Pals. I've also got a Henderson's Pants ad for you that probably would have been more thematically appropriate a couple weeks ago but…oh well. They ARE a fake sponsor after all so… it's not like they are a secret government organization paying close attention to what we do or something daft like that.

Anyway, thank you for listening. I now present to you the roster of this episode's clips:

CLIPS

My Pleasure
The show description goes: "Welcome to My Pleasure. Listen every Thursday for the latest hot girl homework, taste of the week and top 5-ish from Esther Povitsky." Our clip was snipped from the episode the dropped from October 20th, just last month, ansdwas entitled, "Esther Anonymous", in which Esther dipped into chat about

12-step program talk, top five favorite movies to re-watch, and a NEW take on Kanye.

Gender Reveal
Hosted by Tuck Woodstock, the show's description reads: "Welcome to Gender Reveal, a podcast about nonbinary and transgender folks. Join us as we interview notable trans guests, analyze current events, answer advice questions and get a little bit closer to understanding what the heck gender is." OUr clips is from a-ways back. 4 years back, in fact, from January 16th of 2018 - with guest Eden Rohatensky, whom Tuck talks to about such topics as adding a non-binary voice to the #MeToo movement, the difficulties of coming out as non-binary in other languages, how coming out helped Eden recognize their privilege, navigating the tech industry as a non-straight-white-dude, and exploring the question: Is gender a spooky ghost?

The Pen Pals Podcast
As the show's description promises: "Every week, your pen pals, Daniel Van Kirk and Rory Scovel, respond to the letters you send them on topics ranging from free will to freeway etiquette, from mental health to manatees. Seek advice. Tell a story. Vent. Send a letter. It's your podcast, we just talk about it." Our featured clip is lovingly harvested from their episode from just a few week's ago, on October 26th, 2022, and features a guest: Chad Daniels. It's entitled "RE: Turning 40 & Chips".

Once you've given this 'sode a listen that will be another installment in the past…well most of it anyway; there's still this part left: The part where I say that I hope you find something enjoyable in this presentation of curated content handpicked specially for you, the listener. It's the part where I urge you to check out my other content over at www.tysonsaner.com and also this show's archive at www.succotashshow.com because, after you leave us, I would hope that you would seek to spend more time with us in your future.

You could wait until next week when show #330 drops, most likely to be hosted by Mr. Hershon who is, no doubt at this very moment, like actually NOW in MY timeline, on the hunt for the content that he will undoubtedly bring you.

So, until next time I talk to you, be decent to each other, consider leaving a 5-star review of our show, and if someone you know is in search of something to listen to, but doesn't know where to start, won't you please pass the Succotash?
