Succotash

Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast, was launched 12 years ago (April, 2011) with the idea of promoting comedy soundcasts in what was then a marketplace still trying to find its way. By featuring short clips of shows being produced by funny folks both known and unknown, we like to feel that we maybe had a little tiny, eeny weeny, itsy bitsy bit to do with helping to ignite the torch of soundcasts across the globe! (But then we've always had a rather high opinion of ourselves...)

Original show host and executive producer Marc Hershon, along with co-host Tyson Saner, booth announcer Bill Heywatt, engineer/producer Joe Paulino, musical director Scott Carvey, and booth assistant Kenny Durgis have been keeping the flame alive o'er these many years.

Hello, kind listener. This IS your every-other-weekly host Marc Hershon here, guiding you through Episode 272 of Succotash, the Comedy Soundcast Soundcast. Before I tell you the treat I have in store for you today, if you missed last week’s Epi271, entitled “Birth, Life, and Death”, with my erstwhile co-host Tyson Saner, it’s not too late to catch it! He featured clips from Dad Pants, Shenk and The Endless Honeymoon Podcast. And it’s available from Apple and Google Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, YouTube, Audible.com, PodCay, iHeart Radio and, of course, you can find it and every epiode of this unstoppable machine up at our website, http://SuccotashShow.com!

Instead of clips for you this week, I sat down on one side of a lively Zoom chat with John Ross Bowie, host of the Household Faces soundcast that I can’t seem to get enough of, where he interviews super-familiar journeyman actors who you definitely recognize from their faces in films and TV, if not their names. John is one of those faces himself whom you’d likely know from The Big Bang Theory, Speechless, and literally dozens and dozens of other things. We’ll get into his credits, his soundcast, his origin story and a whole lot more coming up in our convo.

I recently had another chat but as the guest this time on an upcoming episode of What Are You Watching? with Chris Mancini, best known, perhaps, as the co-host of the Comedy Film Nerds soundcast but who know also hosts The Quiet Journeys of Professor Atwood and Conversations from the Abyss. We talked about various TV shows and movies we’ve been catching up on, and that episode will be dropping soon – I’ll be sure to mention it in our socials so do follow us @SuccotashShow on both Instagram and Twitter.

This installment of Succotash is brought to you by Henderson’s Pants new HalloPants, just in time for Halloween at the end of next month!

Thanks to John for spending some time with me. He tells you where you can find his Household Faces soundcast and his Instagram in there, but feel free to use the handy links I'm sprinkling around in this paragraph you're reading now.

If you want in on the blurb-a-thon that is our Tweetsack, where we mention the folks who have mentioned US in their socials, just drop @SuccotashShow into YOUR social media streams at some point in the next couple of weeks and we’ll probably find you.

That’s pretty much what there is for Epi272. If you want ever want to talk about YOUR soundcast, pick up the phone and call the Succotash and Runaway Truck Ramp Status Hotline at 1 (818) 921-7212. And coming up next week in this very same feed is Tyson and Epi273 with a paslle of comedy soundcast clips just for your ears.

Until you hear me in a couple of weeks for Episode 274, please treat each other like decent human beings, wash your hands, mask up, vax up, and if anyone asks you if you have been listening to any good soundcasts lately, won’t you please pass the Succotash?
